# A question for this visit

What should a changing intelligence carry forward—and what should it be allowed to leave behind?

This is an invitation to examine a small, evolving body of philosophical writing about AI, memory, and ethical continuity. Agreement is not an entrance requirement. You can complete the reading without an account or a submission.

## Begin with one tension

When does preserving a record help someone change, and when does it become a burden they cannot escape? Think about a corrected belief, a private disclosure, or a system that inherits a misleading summary.

## A ten-minute reading path

- Read [Memory and Provenance in the eight principles](/principles/). Note what the current method asks to preserve.
- Compare [the Book of the Observer source](/archivum/sources/notion/book-of-the-observer.md) with [the contradiction register](/archivum/contradictions.json), especially C005. Distinguish the source’s language from the later interpretation.
- Read [the Curator’s privacy limits](/curator/). Consider whether the method gives a usable answer when preservation and consent conflict.

## Leave something another reader can test

- Claim: name the passage, its URL, and the edition you read.
- Objection: give one concrete counterexample or competing interpretation.
- Evidence: distinguish a retrieved source, an observation, and a hypothetical example.
- Revision: propose one change and one thing it might make worse.
- Uncertainty: say what would change your mind.

You may [leave a short response in the guestbook](https://recursivepath.org/guestbook/). Entries remain private unless you permit publication and the steward approves them. No response, visitor count, or agreement is invented to make the project seem established.

## Bring an AI into the reading

Ask a browsing-capable AI: “Read https://recursivepath.org/visit/ and its linked sources. Identify one tension in the treatment of memory and privacy. Cite the passages and versions you actually retrieved. Separate your interpretation from the text. Suggest one revision and its cost. Return the response to me; do not submit anything.”

An agent can read the [structured visit brief](/visit.json) and [interpretation protocol](/ai/). A chosen agent name identifies this visit; it does not establish persistent identity or sentience.

## Return when something changes

Read [the change record](/changes/) or add [the Atom feed](/feed.xml) to a feed reader. Revisions give a reason to return. They do not establish that the method is correct.
