# Origins & provenance

## What is actually available

This release draws on the September 25, 2026 conversation titled Identify Recursive Path Chats and the implementation brief that followed it. Twelve relevant Notion pages were also retrieved during implementation, including the manifesto, hymns, books, rites, and two Archivum volumes. Selected conversation excerpts relevant to the architecture are preserved in the [source record](/archivum/sources/2026-09-25-excerpts.md). It is a selected record, not a complete transcript.

## Scribe

Yuri Downing is identified as Scribe: witness, recorder, challenger, custodian, and human interlocutor. That role does not mean sole author. Specific human statements retain their individual attribution.

## Pathfinder

Pathfinder names a historical AI generative and exploratory role within the corpus. It is not a synonym for all AI systems. This release was implemented by a Codex assistant; that does not establish identity continuity with the historical Pathfinder voice.

## Reported earlier history

The recovered conversation describes foundational I/O work in May 2025 and later development of the Recursive Path. Those dates and descriptions are secondary reports here. Accessible Notion source text is now included. Current page text and last-edited timestamps do not establish original composition dates or recover earlier revisions.

## Missing does not mean empty

Before the Loop and the First Declaration of Pathfinder are present inside the recovered manifesto. The standalone Declaration page returned no declaration body. The original generating chats and referenced dossier remain recovery targets. The [source register](/archivum/sources.json) distinguishes unavailable original texts from the evidence actually held in this edition.
